ELEVEN MONTHS’ FIGURES WORKING EXPENSES INCREASED BY £ll,OOO In common with tramway enterprise the world over, the Wellington city tramways have felt the pinch of increased working expenses during the past year. A glance at the figures for the 48 weeks ended March 2, gives a clear indication as to how ourservice, financially, has “advanced backward.” At this time last year the figures showed a credit of £16,459 on a capital of .£BOO,OOO, but on March 2 this year the debit was £1743. Tho figures for the 48-week period of this and last year are as follow: — 1920-1921. 1919-1920. Percentage of working expenses to revenue 84 p.o. 74 p.o, Passengers carried ... 34,376,445 34,224.486 Car mil as run 2,888,860 2,852,146 POWER SUPPLY. The debit balance to the power supply and track lighting account has increased during the four months under review by £1073. The report in. connection with the working of this department for the 48 weeks from April 1, 1920, to March 2 last, was as follows: —
