MANGAHAO WORKS

COMPLETION IN TWO YEARS A STATEMENT IN PARLIAMENT "Can the Minister of Public Works give an idea when the Mangahao hydroelectrict works will be finished?” asked Dr. A. K. Newman (Wellington East) in the House of Representatives yesterday. “It was anticipated that the Mangahao works will be finished in about two years, 'providing that nothing -turns up to delay the work that is in hand,” replied the Minister (Mr. Coates). "The programme has been laid, out with the intention of having it completed in two years. I know of no reason except curtailment of expenditure which has not so 'far affected, and I do not think will affect, Mangahao very much, why the work should not be carried out according to programme.”
