FEDERATION EXECUTIVE MEETS.

The executive of the Miners lede aHion met in Wellington on Saturday and will meet again to-day. The chief business of the executive is to consider the answer made by the Coal Mine Owners Association to the demands recently presented by the federation. The old ° agreement, mode last year, expired at the end of last month. The miners’ new demands include a six-hour day, a fiveday week and t'he abolition of the contract system. The owners have refused to consider these demands and have stated that' they will not confer with the federation until the more extreme of the demands are withdrawn. The federation is likely to communicate again with the association early this week.
