MOTOR-’BUS MISHAP WOMAN DIES FROM INJURIES FIFTEEN PASSENGERS HURT By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March 6. A char-a-banc owned by D. Shaw, of Titirangi, was conveying a load of excursionists to Muriwai beach on Saturday, when it went through a bridge at Henderson. As far as can be ascertained to-day, very few of the occupante of the motorbus escaped injury. Miss M. AV. Wilson, who sustained internal injuries, died in the hospital. Her father, Mr. C. J. Wilson, had. a bone in his leg broken. There are three persons in hospital— Mr. W. Shaw, who is suffering from internal injuries and ehock; Mrs. Mardyie, broken arm and shock; and Mr. Richard Paget, cuts and abrasions. They are reported to be progressing favourably. No fewer than fifteen of the passengers sustained injuries, stated Constable Douglas, when interviewed. The iujuries of those not taken to hospital were not of a very serious nature, although in the case of one man who elected to be taken home instead of going to the hospital, a bone in the leg had l.een fractured. There were a variety of knocks and bruises sustained, by other sufferers when Constable Douglas arrived on the scene about 9 .30 a.m. Passengers were lying on the banks of the creek and on the roadside receiving medical attention. Those in the char-a-banc were all either related to each other or were friends, the party having been gathered together for a picnic by the proprietors of the char-a-banc, and they resided in New Lynn, or Titirangi. Miss M. Wilson, of Titirangi, wae pinned under the water md restored to consciousness when rescued, but after half-an-hour’s treafenent relapsed into unconsciousness in the hospital, and subsequently' died. , * The char-a-banc dropped about 15 tee? into the stream, and subsided into mud, only a few feet of tho vehicle being above the water. A passage was cut in the top of the canvas cover- through which tho passengers were assisted to About two-thirds of the bridge-a small wooden structure—was earned away, tho char-a-teno crashing through 'stem first. The injured were attended to by a medical man, who arrived early.
