AUSTRALIA V. HAWKE’S BAY HOME SIDE MAKE 167 By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, February 25. The match, Australians v. Hawke's Bay, commenced at noon to-day at Nelson Park. The attendance was about 2000, and there was brilliant sunshine, • tempered by a pleasant breeze. The ' wicket was excellent, and the outfield good. Hawke’s Bay, bailing first, put up 168 runs for three hours 40 minutes play (Bishop 61. Cane 33). The home teeam’a tatting was generally very creditable, and favourably commented on by the Australians. At the close of the day’s play the visitors had lost four wickets for runs. At one stage, the score was fourfc/ wickets for 54 runs, Alcott proving a strong card with the ball. Kippax and Ransford made the stand for the fifth wicket, and both are still in, 34 and 16 respectively. The fielding of both sides was excellent. Following are fhe scores:— HAWKE’S BAY.
