THE SHIPPING SHORTAGE
FREEZING INDUSTRY SUFFERING.

The Dannevirke branch of the Farmers Union discussed the shortage of ships for carrying frozen meat. It was contended that if steamer, could not lie loaded at Wellington they should be diverted to Napier, and uorked there. Some freezing works, being full, were aljout to close down, and Hawke’s Bay would bo particularly haid hit. this being tho third dry summer in succession. It was decided to make urgent representation to the Prime Munster Sir George Hunter, and Mr. A. M Nicol, M.P.’s, asking that all possible steps be taken to get the m?at shipped.
