PROPHETIC CONFERENCE

The annual business meeting of the Pre-millennial Advent Association was held yesterday morning. A satisfactory report was received from the Christchurch Association. A special vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. D. O. Af'Clay, the Dominion secretary. The Very Rev. Dr. G. E. Weeks, M.A., D.D., LL.D., Dean of Nelson, was elected president for the ensuing year. Dean IVeeks, of Nelson, speaking to a crowded audience in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last night, congratulated the association on the success of the conference. It was by no means unique, but part of a world-wide movement. His subject, "Alillennial Glories, was most appropriate to the closing hours of the conference, yet there were earnest Christians who said they had no sympathy with such a subject, because it was so entirely removed from the practical. They held that dwelling upon such a remote contingency tended to the relaxation of Christian effort. This reasoning was most erroneous, and was never used in other affairs of life. Tracing the evolution of kingship through the Old Testament, Dr. Weeks showed how the future King of Righteousness, in whom all nations would be blessed, would come. No words were adequate to describe the glory if the King Himself, when, His nation restored to a fruitful land, the faithful of His Church sharing His reign HMversal peace and prosperity would lie establish M in the world, not by Hague confercnees or leagues of nations, but by H perfectly righteous rule. Such a prospect, instead of undermining eflort, should surely bo an inspiration to the C meeting of this year's conference will be held in the large Town Hall to-morrow evening at 8.15 ° clock. The Rev. W. Lamb, of Sydney, will b the speaker at this service.
