SHIPMENTS OF ORANGES
UNION S.S. COMPANY SUED. In the Supreme Court yesterday, before His Honour Mr. Justice Hosking and a jury of twelve, the hearing was continued 'of tho case in which Laery and Co., Ltd., auctioneers, of Wellington, and the Century Mercantile Company of Berkeley, California, sued the (Inion Steam Ship Company for .81813 3.5. Id., for alleged damage to shipments of oranges, carried on the steamship Moana. Mr. M. Myers appeared for the plaintiffs, and Messrs. C. P. Skerrett. K.C.. and P. Levi rep resented the defendant company. The case was commenced on Monday, when the plaintiffs’ case occupied all day, and yesterday further evidence was adduced. Tho defendant company denied all the allegations made by the plaintiffs. Most of yesterday afternoon was devoted to the reading of a lengthy report relative to the case from evidence taken on commission in San Francisco. The case will be continued this morning.
