The annual rainfall of the world’s land is computed at 29,347 cubic miles, of which (1521 cubic miles drains into the sea. Each cubic mile of the river water weighs about 4,205,050,000 tons, and averages about 420,000 tons of foreign matter, that passes to the ocean.
