CHAUTAUQUA

THE FINAL PROGRAMME. The final Chautauqua programme of the present season was given in the Farmers' Institute Hall last night. The musical part of the programme was of a particularly high standard. It was provided by Mr. Fenwick Newell, an accomplished American tenor who was here witfh the Chautauqua last year, and Miss Gertrude Heber, a clever violinist who had taken part in the first programme. Mrs. Newnll was the accompanist. The tenor sang a selection of songs in mosti attractive manner, and Miss Hober gave some very pleasant numbers. A lecture by Captain R. Muir Allan, on “Burns and Burns s Conntry” occupied the second ptert of the programme. Captain Allan is a Scotsman with all the national regard for his country’s poet, and he proved himself to be a capable and enterihinmg lecturer. He illustrated his . remarks with many pretty an interesting viewe of the Burns country.
