STREET NAMES

DUPLICATION WITH AMALGA-

MATION.

Nomenclahire in the matter of streets does not give a local body much bother, but when a number of such bodies are brought together under one control it is usually found that many duplications result: Such is the case, with Greater Wellington. When Onslow borough was absorbed it was found that in no fewer than sixteen instances street names in the borough were the same as in the city—and are still. Now that Miramar has come in the number of instances in which street names in the district are identical with those in. the older part of the city exceeds twenty. For postal and general convenience this state ol things will have to be rectified, a work which will shortly be relegated to one of the committees of the Cijy Council.
