ORGAN RECITAL

After a. period of some months Mr. Bernard F. Page (city organist) resumed his organ recitals at the Town Hall on Saturday evening. The programme was a judicious blending of ancient and modern music, and was wholly delightful to admirers of theybest in music. It opened with the Handel “Concerto in D -Minor,” a very beautiful exposition of the graceful and refined music of the German master, who made England his home for so many years. It comprises three movements —adagio-allegro. aria, and allegro—which have a well-defined ’-armnnic relation, and give the organist fine scope for regishrative resources, of which Mr. Page took every advantage. Debussy’s isweetly entrancing Andante (from a string quartet) nicely reflected the string tones. A richly-scored "Fantasie in A” of Cesar Franck, the famous Belgian, was admirably played. The programme also included Coates s “Idyll,’ a "Song of Triumph,” by Hugh Anson, and a "Minuetto” by Capocci.
