easy favourite, with Tinopai, C'anowindra, and Forest Gold following in that order. There was a good start, with Sir Huon making the pace, closely followed by Prince Charleroi, and this order was maintained till the stand was passed the first time. Along the back stretch Sir Huon was headed by Prince Charleroi, and a dingdong struggle took place. Prince Charleroi was equal to the occasion. and beat Forest Gold by a length, Windorah, Canowindra, and Tinopai close up Time, 2min .7 4-ssec. Going round the corner, Sea De’il got into second place. That order; was maintained along the back to ihe straight. Entering the straight. Sea De’il closed with Romance in a uCck-and-neek struggle, the rest ot the field well behind. The two leaders took the last hurdle together, and both jockeys began to apply the whip.
