There was a good start, with Sir Huon making the pace, closely followed by Prince Charleroi, and this order was maintained till the stand was passed the first time. Along the back stretch Sir Huon was headed by Prince Charleroi, and a dingdong struggle took place. Prince Charleroi was equal to the occasion. and beat Forest Gold by a length, Windorah, Canowindra, and Tinopai close up Time, 2min .7 4-ssec.
