FIRE ON THE NAVUA

NO DAMAGE TO VESSEL. By Telegraph—Presi Association. Auckland, January 18. Shortly after midnight, the City Fire Brigade received n call to the steamer Navua. berthed at the King’s Wharf. Some difficulty was rst experienced in locating the sent of the fire. It was first thought that it had broken out in the ship's hold, but both the efforts of the crew and the brigade failed to discover its whereabouts. Finally, it was ascertained to he in the -o.il bunkers, and was eventually extinguished, with no damage to the vessel. Tho Navua arrived from Suva last evening with a number of passengers and cargo of bananas.
