The Carterton Caledonian Society and Y.A. Club will hold a sports meeting on February ”3. Tho close on January 25. The Caledonian Handicap, 100yds., 220yds., 440ydfl. and 880yds., is worth in total prize money £2B, including points prizes of £B. The committee have reduced tho entrance fee to a maximum of 2s. for each event. Competitors can leave by the morning train on the day _of tho eports, as the mile is timed to run at 11.45 and tho first event of the handicap at 12. The meeting, it is stated, is showing signs of being a huge success. TKe Carterton Silver Band and Masterton Pipe Band will be in attendance. Competitors or spectators who wish to return by the lato train on Saturday night must apply early so that the Department may be asked to attach a passenger car.
