WOOL FROM PERU

LEEDS EXPERTS’ FAVOURABLE REPORT. London, January 17. Experts of Leeds University, reporting on samples of wool collected from Peru, declare that it is superior to Australian, Cane, and Argentine wools, and prophesy that if a scheme for the improvement of the indigenous Peruvian sheep is reasonably successful there is every likelihood that in ten years’ time Peru will provide tho finest carding and combing wools. The principal types of sheep indigenous to Peru are merinos, dating from the sixteenth century, and improved merinos based on South American types of the Romney Marsh—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
