BONUS FOR GAS STOKERS

REFUSED BY PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The secretary of the Wellington Gas Workers’ Union wrote to the Petone Borough Council last night, asking that the council should pay its stokers the bonus agreed by the Arbitration Court. Councillor Churchouse moved, and Councillor Tovey seconded, that the bonus be paid. . On being put to the vote the motion was lost, only the mover, seconder, and the Mayor voting for it.
