BOWLING TOURNEY
MARRED BY THE RAIN
NO PLAY ON SATURDAY Luck in respect to the weather stuck to the bowlers up till Friday evening. Saturday morning- saw a change. In the very early hours the rain commenced to fall upon the parched land, and after several intervals of uncertainty it continued to increase in volume, until at 10 a.m. it literally pelted down, until the bowling areas became lake-like in appearance. Bowlers stood about in sheltered places, and fought old games over again with much verbal zest. Shortly after 10. a.m. the Tournament Committee met and definitely decided to abandon all play for the day, which communication was at once telephoned to the greens on which play was to have taken place. This decision, of course, referred both to the post-section play of the big rink tournament and the continuation of the “come again” tournament. Bowlers concerned will understand that Saturday’s arrangements hold good for to-day. Assuming the weather is fine to-day and to-morrow, the semi-final games in the rink tournament will be reached tomorrow afternoon, and* the final game will be played on Wednesday afternoon. The "come again" tournament will be continued to-day (weather permitting), and will conclude with the last game this afternoon, . , , o , Owing to the day’s delay camMd by Saturday’s rain it is more than likely that the championship pairs will hot be commenced until Thursday morning.
