UNEMPLOYMENT COST
£57,000,000 IN DONATIONS.
A statement dealing with the Cabinpt schemes for meeting unemployment in Britain mentions the following among the details of costs to the Stale:— Out-of-AVof-k Donation: .£35,006,000 already spent; to be increased to .£40,600,000 by March 31. Civil Liabilities Department: .£2,000,000 spent since armistice; .£4,000,000 to be Training for disabled men: £5,000,000 spent; £26,500,000 to bo spent. Broken apprenticeships scheme: £1,000,000 spent; £5,500.000 to bo ppent. Land settlement•: .£7,500,000 spent, £23,000,000 to bo spent. Over-seas settlement: £50,000 spent; £1.000,000 to bo spent. There are 250.000 demobilised men still out of work, and they receive tho out-of-work donation at £1 or £1 9s. per week. The Prime Minister, replying to a deputation from tho London County Council on the Unemployment (Relief Works) Bill, pointed out that £57,000,000 had been spent by the Government in out-of-work pay for ex-Service men and civilians.
