AFFRAYS IN SERBIA

MONTENEGRINS RESIST DOMINA--TION. Rome, January 12. Serious affrays occurred between Serbian troops and Montenegrins, who desire the independence of their country. The Montenegrins, though superior in numbers, were badly armed and lacked supplies, and were dispersed, rhe total death-roll on both sides was 120. The Serbian authorities at Cettigne, Podgoritza, and Risch have made 400 arrests, and seized thirty leading residents as hostages. The Montenegrins are determined to resist Serbian domination at any cost.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
