GLUT OF COAL STOCKS IN SCOTLAND IDLE VESSELS ON THE TYNE By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright. London, January 13. Owing to the glut of coal stocks, the Scottish coalmasters are abandoning the fixed prices for exported -■ coal; and resuming the pre-war competitive system. More coal is being produced in Scotland than can -lie marketed, owing - to the decreased industrial demand. Owing to the shipping slump, sixty vessels have been indefinitely laid up in Tyneside,' and dozens of others have left for foreign ports to lay up.—Reuter. FOOD MINISTRY DEMANDED PROTEST AGAINST DECONTROL OF WHEAT. ; . London, January 13. The Constimers’ Council demands the creation of a Food Ministry: It alleges that the whole attitude of the Government is primarily in the interests of traders, whose influence is paramount in Parliament. London, January 13. The Association of Chambers of Commerce rejected a motion in favour of the compulsory marking of foreign goods entering the United Kingdom.
