Correspondence between the Minister of Labour and Mr. Arthur Henderson regarding unemployment shows t'hat the Government desires to secure Labour's co-operation, and has largely extended the terms of reference to the committee to meet the Labour criticism that the inquiry did npt go to the root of the trouble. The newspapers consider that the refusal to co-operate with the Government is impblitic and unsound. The "Daily News” adds: “Thus far Labour’s . proposal is that each householder out oi work should be given 40s. a week. This demand will present serious financial difficulties when there are three million unemployed,” —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
