DROWNING OF A RETURNED SOLDIER

Invercargill, January 13.
At an inquest on John F. M'Kenzie, drowned while bathing in the Waihopai River, a brother of deceased stated that deceased had received 22 wounds at the front, which affected his breathing seriously at times. The medical evidence was that deceased became unconscious immediately he entered the water during a heart attack. A verdict accordingly was returned. The jury complimented two young men who dived to the rescue.
