MAN JUMPS INTO THE SEA

VERDICT OE SUICIDE.

Christchurch, January 13.

An inquest on the body of the man found in the sea at Sumner yesterday was held this morning. Police evidence was given to that though the body had not been identified, it was believed to be that of John Baird, who had jumped off the pier on December 29, though the act was not actually witnessed. So far as is known no one other than Baird had disappeared between December 29 and January 12. The Coroner returned a verdict that the deceased committed suicide while of unsound mind.
