Japaueso at Broome, claiming racial equality, ran amuck armed with a stick and firearms. A general riot followed, in which two Japanese were killed and others wcro wounded. Two white policemen wore injured, ''flic Elot Act was read and all the white inhabitants weru sworn in as special constables, lieturned soldiers and rifle club men, under A.I.F. officers, a'ro patrolling the town and disarming the Japanese.—-Press Assn.
