China has been elected by an absolute mnjority one of the four lion* permanent members of thfr Council ot the League of Nations. Tlie votes ca6t were:—China, 21; Rumania, 7; Sweden, 5; Czeclio-Slovakin, 2; Portugal, Greece, Switzerland, Sorbin, 1 each. All the Great Powers and the Asiatic countries and most of the American States ami U\e British Dominions voted for China.
