WATERSIDE ATHLETIC CLUB
Since the recent! boxing and gymnastic display organised by the Wellington Waterside Athletic Club, the membership of the club has risen front ttfo hundred to about sil hundred. Some time Jiext month it is proposed tl) hold a sports meeting in the Basin Reserve. The club is forming football teams, both League and soccer, also a hockey team. . Swimmerß over any disan'ce are also . invited to beoomci members of the , club, with a view to approaching aquatic sports. Entries of runners for five and tfen-mile events are also invited, with a view to forthcoming events.
The following pupils from _ the Petone 1 Convent School gained certificates for proficiency at the examination held •nt the Lower Hutt on November 18:—Ivy Cameron, Mollie Keating, Edna Loarmouth, Eileen Powell, Carmen Purcell, Mary' Ryder, Athol Hart, Kevin M'Carthy, Cornelius • Ryan, Frank Sullivan, and Frank Whitley. The gold medal (presented by Rev. Father Oucalv) for dux of the school was won by Mollie Keating.
