The list of entries for the Caledonian Bports to by • held at the Basin Iteserv« on Boxing l)aj- indicate exceptionally keen interest in all parts of the Dominion. For nil sections of th e competitions thero is a record number of entrants, tho total (187 competitors, representing, nearly COO entries) far exceeding that of last year. This points to one of the biggest gatherings of its kind yet held in the Dominion, and spectators should have plenty to interest them. Provision has teen made for side-shows and light Refreshments. Arrangements have been completed by an energetic committee, under Mr. T. W. Leslie, and everything points .to a highly successful gathering. ' '

For the first time in New Zealand throwing the javelin and putting the discus will be competed for.
