FATAL TRAM ACCIDENT
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, December 13. The inquest into the death of William M'Math, who was run over by a tram at Takapuna on the evening of December 4, and died in the hospital early next morning, was concluded 'before the Coro ncr, Mr. M'Kean, S.M., to-day. In commenting on the case, tho Coroner said that tho facts were fairly clear. Tho unfortunate man was a stranger to Takapuna. and did not realise that ho was on tho tramway track until it was too lr.te for him to get, out of the way. There was nothing to'suggest negligence in any way. Thero seemed, however, to bo room for'improvement in the lifeguard used by tlin company. The evidence showed that the lifeguard might msily become dctach ed if one corner struck an object. Apparently that was what happened in this case. Tho Coroner then returned a formal verdict on the lines of tlio medical evidence and lulded that it was quite an accidental occurrence. ..
