A meeting of tho local Disputes Committee was called to consider tho matter, but following the prooedura adopted at Wellington it refused to adjudicate except on Mio understating that the men would commence work beforehand. The men would not agree to this proposal, however, with the result that no work waa_ done on the vessel. Hopes are entertained that tlw disputo will bo settled in tho morning.
