filr Arthur Conan Doyle, who will arrive in Auckland to-day from Sydney, r-omes of a family of artißts and writers. Both his father and grandfather wcrn men of outstanding ability in. the art world, and two of his ' uncles were "Dicky" Doyle, the celebrated vpuncli" artist, and James Doyle, who wrote and illustrated in colours "The Ohroniclcß of England." Sir Arthur practised medicine until his success an an author made him determine to devote his time to writing. Ho has done this, but- has managed to crowd In n host of other important things as well.' Although the main object of his visit to New Zealand is to lecturo on eoirituallrm, Sir Arthur . Cona-n Doyle hopes to have the opportunity of neeinc as much as possible of the country and Its principal Industries, ' etc., as he is writing a book of impressions of his tour. The Urst Conan Doyle lecture in Wellington will be given In the Town lla.ll <m Saturday evening, and the »econd. which will he illustrated with psychic pictures, on Monday.
