STORMS OFF ENGLISH COAST
SEVERAL WRECKS REPORTED. (Eec. December 5, 5.5 p.m.) ■ London, December 2. Several wrecks occurred during a 6torm off the west and south coasts last night. They included the big steamers Ansgir and Hatlior, which were, lost off tho coast of Cornwall. The two crews, totalling sixty-nine, were rescued by means of lifeboats and rocket apparatus. Tho Hathor, with a' German crew, was interned in Chile throughout the war. The Ansgir belonged to .the Ministry of Shipping-, and was about to undergo survoy before being handed over to the Japanese Government. When she struck it was impossible to launch the boats, and an apprentice, aged nineteen, swam ashore with a line to establish communication by means of a buoy.— Renter.
SEVERE GALE RAGING. (Rcc. December 6, 1.20 a.m.)
London, December 5. , A severe gale is raging over tho British Isles. Several coastal ■ vessels have »bcen' wrecked with loss of life. Five of tho crew of the Rhoscolyn lifeboat were drowned while promling to tlhe assistance of a vessel in Carnarvon Bay. Ships in the Tyne broke from their moorings, and collided with others, doing considerable, damage.—Aus.-N.K. Cnblo Assn.
