Sweetman, the'Sinn'Fein M.P. for Wexford. for the holding of a Christmas conforence for Irish peace, the "Star" publishes a survey of the position, by a wellinformed Connaught Nationalist. The writer says:—"The Government hns now stopped the activities of the Irish liepublican Government and Army. The Republicans see that nothing can be gained by fighting, the Crown forces. They see every movement is forestalled, nowspapers suppressed, leaders gao'.ed, and markets and railways closed.. The Republican Army has had enough.
