CANTERBURY GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET
■Bv Telenranh—Press Association.' Ghrlstchurch, November 30. There is nothing now to report in connection with grain and produce linos. Cnbled advice received to-day states that La Plata oats ,wcro selling at its. Gd. per rquarter, equal to a Now Zealand prico of 455. to 455. This is a drop prncidcnlly of Is. per bushel on the snles of two months ago, and consignors just at present have not a very busy outlook. Some forward business in oats has taken place, but at a price that is not very encouraging to next season's growers. The business is of tJio "paper oats" character, nnd may be taken purely ns a speculative shot rather than a probable basis of values. However, sales have taken place on the basis of 935. Bd., 5.1.. f.0.b., equal to 2s. 9d. or 2s. 10(1. to farmers at ■ country stations. With wheat ail 7s. Cd. and barley at 75., this price is a daringly low one, so much bo that if farmers were satisfied that it was to be the ruling one next season tlicy would l bo justified in feeding their oats. Chaff been the subject of a little movement, but the Blenheim district is monopolising practically all the North Island trade, and local quotations are Bb.. 5.1.. f.o.b. There has been somo retail business in perennial ryegrass, nnd seine lines have changed hands nt 9s. for machine dressed. This is equal tb 7s. 3d. per farmer's sample.
