ARCHBISHOP MANNIX
Sir,—Mny I register a pat on Hip back to the British Press for "scantiiy rc-nm-ting" the doings nnd sayings of Archbishop Mannix? Were it not for the Austrnlinn Press taking so much notice of Dr. Mannix, lie would be as little in the public eve as that fine old dignified Irishman, Archbishop Kelly, of .Sydney, who confines his spiritual activities to the "faith and morals" of his dock, and whose name is revered among ail classes. Dr. Monnix's notoriety recalls the late that befel iv turbulent American Senator many years ago. The New York editors banned his name from publication in am* sense, with the result that lie disappeared from public life, and his former "glories" were briefly recalled % score of years after, when lie passed away quietly in a little-known Missouri hamlet.—l am, etc., AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC.
