Christchurch, November 29. The. City Council to-night, ion .tine motii/a of Cc/un,lillor Sullivan, M.P., earned tho following motion:—"That with a, view- to the encouragement of New Zealand secondary industries, and in order to maintain the prosperity'of tho Dominion, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, bo asked to initiate propaganda throughout the country urging tho people to purchase only New Zea-land-made goods when such goods are obtainable. To accomplish a similar object, and in. order to maintain local workers in employment, the City. Council urgos citizens of Christchurch to purchase New Zealand-made goods during the present slack periods." Liter' in the evening notice of motion was given by Councillor Hunter expressing tho opinion that undtio exploitation had been going on jn the Dominion, particularly in relation to clothing and footwear, and asking for legislation to enable citizisis to f<st up tfigilanco (committees to ideal ■with prices and profiteers.
