CITY COUNCIL
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. ' The City Council met last night. Present: The. Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke, C.M.G., M.P.), Councillors B. G. 11. Burn, W. J. Henderson, J. Burns, W. J. Thompson, C. J. B. Norwood, W. J. Gaudin, T. Forsyth, L. M'Kenzie, M. F. Luckie, J. 0 Shorland, ,T. M. Dale, C. n. Chapman, P. Frnser, M.P.. J. Hutchison, and R. A. Wright, M.P. Authority was granted for negotiations to be entered into for the acquisition of an area of land in the northern portion of tho city for depot purposes. It wns resolved that the donors of the following gifts to the zoological collection be thanked for their presentations:-! slow-worm, 1 blu-tongue, 1 jow lizard, Captain Greenhad; 5 Yorkshire canaries. 1 pair Sibright bantams, 1 bundle of plants, Mr. Sherbrooke, Alfred Street. In response to the application of tho Onslow Progressive Association the council decided not to take any action at prorent with reference to the suggestion tliat subways be formed at the Ngaio and Khnndallah railway stations.
