♦ A CHARGE OF ASSAULT. Br Tolearanh—Presa Ananoiat.ton. . Auckland, November 22. When a vaudeville artist, .Louis/ Le Bruit, appeared in tho Magistrate's Court to-day charged, with assaulting Mrs. Ermey, a remand for a week ed, Senior Serjeant Bales remarking that the injured woman would not he out of hospital for a few days. Ho added that her injuries were severe, and the young woman would probably be disfigured for life. Mr. 0. E. Stout, on l«-. half of accused,' asked that bail !*e allowed, and this was fixed at cne surety of '.E3OO, which was forthcoming. So far as can be ascertained ai present, Le Bran went to the playhouso to get his stage properties arranged. Ttnlph Ermey and his wife ("Yank and 1 Jean") were about the. same business, when Le Brun is alleged to have assaulted Mrs. Ermey and to have struck Ermey, too, when he. went to his wife's assistance. Tho young woman's nose, was split and the cartilage torn from the bone, while an artery ,was broken.' She was sent to a private hospital to have these painful injuries attended to. Meantime a eonstable was summoned, and Le lirun wn» arrested. It is stated that Le Brun is an Australian returned soldier, and had suffered from shell shock.
