GROUP V: RIFLE MEETING
The Group V riHe meeting this year will be held on Decemlwr 4 and 11, and if reasonable expectations are fulfilled the entries should at least reach the -000 mark. In the year before last the entries were 1400, and this number constituted a record for the Dominion; but the indications oil this occasion suggest Hint that record will be easily eclipsed, borne; thing like ,£IOO is to he given in prizo monny, and a number of valuablo trophies arc offered in addition. On December 4 the Senior Cadets will fire ' Probably about IpOO competitors will piit in (Hi appearance on the range, and it is practically sortam that ainong the number will be some of tho bovs from the training slup Amolcura. On December 11 the Tern onals and Rifle Clubs' shoot will be held, and the fiftv Senior Cadets who did best on the first day will fire for the Senior Cadet championship of the group. Lady members of the National Defenco League have undertaken to provide light refreshments on the range. • Tho number of entries already received is lares, and intending competitors are. availing themselves of the facilities provided for practice. Tho miniature range in the Garrison Hall Buckle Street is open from 12 to 2 daily, and the Polhi Gully range from 4to 6 o clock, ail practice is .cftrriwl out under .tlio supeivision of a member of the staff. The Governor-General (Admiral Lord Jellicoe) has consented to act as patron of tho meeting.
