SHEEPSKIN SALE
HEAVY DECLINE IN PRICES. Br Telearanh—Press AfßOClatlon.' Christchurch, November 18. The first auction sale of sheepskins since February, 1917, when the Government commandeered sheepskins, was held to-day, th« cataloguo totalling 20,034 skins. In conseyuenco of the heavy decline in wool values at Monday's sale, and aho of tho fact that there has breh a big drop in the Australian value of sheepskins, it was fully expected that there would bo tv substantial drop from commandeer valurs, but even taking theso facts into consideration, the prices obtaiued to-day were, generally speaking, ibelow till? expectations oT sellers. However, wore than three-fourths of the skins offered were fold. Tho following comparative range of prices for abattoir and other salted skins, estimated at per pound, gives an indication of the extent of the decline in pricps to-day.— Comman- Auction deer val- prices. nations.
