Sir-With reference to Sir Thomas Mackenzie's statement regarding relief funds for Central Europe, l l should like to point out that hundreds of thousands of children are starving In Foland, Serbia. Czecho-Slovakia. and Armenia, as well as in. ex-enemy countries. As showing the recognised necessity for relict, His Majesty the King has consented to become patron of tho Imperial Famine I'und. Tho committee includes, Mr. Lloyd George. Lord Birkenhead and the Lord Chancellor. It is tended to co-ordinate and centralise the til ltisiieffort for tho relief of one of the most tcrriblo tragedies in history. An appeal is being launched m every district ol London, and it will be extended rapidly through the provinces and the Dmiiminns, so that it miiy become an ™p>Maivo Imperial movement - by tsntisn peoples as a whole Their Esce lenc.M .Lord and Lady Jellicoe are patrons of the Wellington effort. ' , All funds subscribed will be remitted through the Intornal Affairs Department to tho New Zealand High. Commissioner in London, who will supervise the prompt and proper distribution of funds, which are administered by the British Red Cross and the Society of Friends, Moreover, all funds remitted from New /lealand will be subsidised £ for *5 .by tin, British Government up to a certain limit. In view of these facts we trust the public will take a broad view o£ the matter and subscribe generously for the relief of theso innocent children during next week's campaign for funds—l am, etc., R.
