Th» Executive Committee of tho American Federation of Labour is In conference regarding the industrial situation. Certain of the leaders profess to Bee a definite conspiracy throughout tho country on the part of employers to forco "open shop" and lower wages. They .declare that many manufacturers are closing down their plants with the object of reopening tKem when the workers are tired of idloness and will agreo to aocept reduced wages and the open shop. . Union leaders state that living costs will not permit of reduotion in wages, and ' declare their intention to fight the open . shop with all their resources. It is proposed to get the Labour federation to consider raising a ftind of twenty million dollars with which- to conduct the "closed-shop'' campaign.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable ; Assn. " ( (Reo.
