A BUSH TRAGEDY
SETTLER ACCIDENTALLY CUTS LEG OFF DEATH DURING SEARCH FOR HELP By T«lcsr»ph—l'res« Aerooiatlnn. Auckland November 12. A tragedy occurred in the bush near Rainarania on .November 4 which wus only discovered yesterday. On the dato mentioned George Bedeipli, « single man, aged 39, und a returned Main Body soldier, arrived at the Ramaruma store and secured thrco or four days' supplies as was his custom. Yesterday the storekeeper became anxious, as Bedelph had not called for further food. Ho therefore went out to the man' 6 tent, 6ome miles away. On a clipping block near the tent he found a human leg at a spot where Bedelph had been splitting posts. Making further investigations; ho found that Bedelph hnd crawled half a mile for assistance and then, overcome by weakness, had laid down, placed his hat over hia face and died. At tho inquest a verdict was returned that deceased bled to .death through accidentally sevdring his limb.
