AUCKLAND GAS SUPPLY
ANOTHER STOPPAGE EXPECTED,
By TclenrftD'h—Presi Aasooiation.
Auckland, November 12. According tea statement by Mr. Lowe, engineer and manager of tho Auckland Gas Company, the city is once again confronted with an early stoppage of its gas supply. "The stock of. coal at the Auckland gasworks is again approaching exhaustion," said Mr. Lowe, in explaining tlio situation. "Expected shipment of coal from both Westport and Newcastle have not materialised. Since the ffivs supply waa resumed on October 1-1 tho company has only received 850 tons of coal from Westoort, and .the total quantity of Westport coal received this year up to the present is only 13,880 tons as compared with 27,000 tons received in 1919. It is, therefore, dear that the company is not receiving its duo share of coal, which is evidently being allocated to the south. Unless further supplies como to hand, there will undoubtedly bo another cessation of tho gas supply about Thursday of next week. The company is unable to understand whv it is that, in spite of the assistance of 'the' New Zea.Und Government, the ICauri and Katoa have tooth failed to secure coal at Newcastle, although the Omana and the E. R. Sterling, which loaded for less essential industries, have succeeded in getting cargoes of coal at that port,"
