FIRE ON LINER CORINTHIC

DAMAGE NOT SERIOUS. Shortly after 5 o'clock yesterday morning thick volumes of smoke were 6een issuing from No. 1 hold of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Corinthic, berthed at the Glasgow Wharf, and'a firowas discovered among tiro itax and kauri gum, with which that hold'was loaded. The celerity with which the brigade got to work undoubtedly averted a serious blaze. The outbreak was well under control by half-past six, andshortly afterwards was totally.. suppressed. . . So far as could bo ascertained yesterday, the damage to die cargo and tho ship is not serious.
