NATIONAL INSURANCE CO. Tho report and! balance-sheet of the National Insurance Company's operations from October 1. 1919, to September 30, 1120. shows that the net revenuo for the year amounts to £218,899 18b. 10d.; after making full provision for losses outstanding, and transferring £9000 to reinsurance reserve, there is an underwriting-- surplus of £32.230 14s. 4d. ; interest and rents, etc, amount to £29,645 lis. 4d.; less incomo ta\£6994 (£22.651 Its. 4d.); balance broii"ht for" ward, £33.428 17s. Id.; total. £88,311 2s 9d Out of this an interim dividend was paid in May, 1920, £12,500; the directors have added to the reserve fund, £10,000- and placed to investment fluctuation account £15.000. They now recommend the payl meat of a further dividend of one shilling and threepence, and a bonus of ninepence per share (making the total distribution for the year 3s. 3d. per share), £20,000; and lo carry forward, £30,311 2s. 9d.; total .£01.311 2s. 9d. Messrs. G. R. Ritchie and W' Downie Stewart retire from the directorate by rotation, and offer themselves for reelection. -CUSTOMS REVENUE. The year's "dividend (a 10 percent., with a bonus of sa. per share, hith tax free.
