« — FOUR PRISONERS SENTENCED. Sentence was passed by Ilis Honour Mr. Justice Chapman, in the Supreme Court yesterday, on four prisoners guilt? of various offences. Mr. P. S. K. Macasscy appeared for thb Crown. In dealing with Ella Dorothea Bo.YS, the girl who had pleaded guilty to theft of furs and clothing, find also lace, at Mastorton, the property ol Bin?, Harm and Co., His Honour said he had had difficulty in coming, to a decision as to sentence. "I have decided to give you a chance," said His Honour. Instead of going to gaol, you will he admitted to probation for two years on the first charge, and will be convicted and ordered to come up for sentence on the charge of stealing 'the lace. , "This man is a bad' criminal, asserted Mr. Macassey, when John Henry Morgan, - a convicted burglar, appeared in the dock. His Honour agreed with Mr. Macassey, and sentenced Morgan to two vears" imprisonment, to be cumulative with a term of 12 months Morgan is already serving for breaking and entering the DJ.O. Three months' imprisonment was the punishment given Charles Mnnze (Air. i B Siovwright), wlio attempted to break and enter tho residence of the superintendent of tho Wellington lire Brigade. The prisoner- was formerly an A.B. on tho Mamari, His Honour remarking that Afwizft would suffer b} tnissing the ship..' .
