Affairs in Arabia lately have been attracting attention, primarily owing to Hie spread of the Akhwai; movement, a Bedouin _ society for tho promotion of religion in the extreme Whabi Ponsa. They recontly had a conflict with the neighbouring principalities of Hail and Kuwait. The trouble arose'iu ihu first place regarding the possession of certiain wells. Subsequently on October 10 an Akhwan. attacked the flieikli of Kuwait near Kuwait. There wt-re'n,nny casualties on both sides. An lUinvnn deputation was sent to Kuwait to offer peace, apparently on condition (hnti the Sheikh and inhabitants of Kawmfc accepted tho Akhwan tenets fortliw.th. "he Sheikh fenced with the deputation, and meanwhile invpked British assistance. Tho military aiuSiovities in Mesopotamia Rent two aeroplanes to Kuwait and warned the Akhwan that if rn ntfank was mado on the town the British UMild bo obliged to intervene. Colonel T. E.
