BOYS' AGRICULTURAL CLUBS
In connection with the Boys' Agricultural Club in Otago, Mr..TV. Stuart Wilson, of Wellington, has been advised of tho result of tho last pota'io-growing contest which the farm lads participated in. The result'was a win for George M'Leod, 13 years of age, of Momonn, who rnisod 18.8 tons of potatoes to tho acre, value .£37 55., and gains a 50-guinea cup and RoldVvatch. Donald Ford, of Momona, 1-1 years of age, who raised 15.7 _ tons to the acre, came second, and Ernie Pearson, of Beaumont, U yoars of age, who raised 14.25'-tons to the acre, was third." Mr. Wilson, who has just rohirned from a visit! to Hawke's Bay,' sa.ys that. tho leading people of that' district ore surprised that the Government has nob seen fit to encourage this movement more than is tho ease. In Me south the boys' example in'making tho soil produce Tup to its full value has; in some instances, been •a valuable lesson to their own fathers. In America the movement is a national one, which interests' some 5,000,000 boys, who aro keen on being better farmers uhan their fathers were before them.
