NIGHT LETTER TELEGRAMS
KESTEICTIONS TO BE'NOTED. The Postinaster-Goneral announces .that a class of telegruia known as ft night letter telegram was introduced on Monday. Tho rate fed for such telegram is Is. Cd. for the first thirty-six words or fraction thereof, and Jd. for each word in excess of that number. A letter telegram will be accepted for transmission between any two telegraph offices in the Dominion, but will bo subject to a number of ivstrictions not imposed on ordinary telegrams. Tho chief restrictions are:—
(1) Tho message must bo lodged at least one hour before tlfe time of closing of the office of origin or destination, whichever is the earlier. (2) Tho text must be. written in plain English language. (.'I) Upon arrival at the office of destination it will be held until closing time and then treated as a letter, being delivered by tho first postman's delivery next morning. Those addressed to pri* vate boxes will be placed therein when tho first morning clvorancei of posting;, 'boxes is made. In no circumstances will a night letter telegram bo delivered on the day of lodgment.
